THE PROBLEM
Unisys had multiple customers in the transportation industry who envisioned a digital Health Passport to help re-open businesses and address COVID-19 concerns. The solution required Unisys Stealth Identity and Security to verify individuals' health status without compromising privacy and to control entry and access based on COVID test results.
Unisys aimed to partner with various providers to create an end-to-end testing solution for easy access and presentation of test results while traveling. To achieve this, Unisys sought Dialexa's partnership to design an MVP for the Health Passport and ensure a competitive user experience.
KEY CHALLENGES
Competitive Delivery Speed
Remaining competitive on user experience and time-to-market in the COVID-19 era, where many competitors were seeking to bring a similar product to the market.
Descaling Scope for Faster Release
There were several features that were descoped in efforts to remain competitive on our speed to market. Design made a key decision to prioritize mobile-app implementation, as this would be the primary channel of usage for early users.
Emphasizing Confidentiality
Building a digital health passport that upholds confidential records from users, while remaining accessible to the necessary/authorized provider at any given time.
SOLUTION
A mobile health passport application that allowed users to easily access and present their health testing records or vaccination records, that may be required for validation/entry while traveling, working, etc.
Instilling Trust through Onboarding
To help instill user confidence, we created a gentle, yet informative onboarding process that allowed users to quickly learn what the application would help them achieve. We focused on highlighting ways in which U-Pass would make user’s lives easier—not harder, during a stressful health climate.
Record Management & Efficient Tracking
Organizations expressed a clear need: the ability to customize entry qualifications and track verifications over time. I led design for the requirements feature that gave verifiers this flexibility. Some organizations needed health tests plus vaccination records, while others only required updated vaccination. By designing for this variability, we increased user trust and engagement across different use cases.
